What is an image consultant?
According to the Association of Image Consultants International (AICI), an image consultant is a professional who specializes in visual appearance, verbal and non-verbal communication. An image consultant may have many specialties including, but not limited to, color and wardrobe analysis, closet organization, personal shopping, grooming, hair and makeup, speech/presentation skills and etiquette and protocol.
What does it mean when an image consultant has AICI CIP after her name?
This indicates that a consultant is a “Certified Image Professional” (CIP) and represents an advanced level of accreditation awarded by the Association of Image Consultants International (AICI).
What could I expect with an initial consultation?
Prior to a first meeting, you would be asked to fill out an image profile, containing questions about your goals, preferences and lifestyle. We would then meet for a session to review your best colors, silhouettes, and style based on your physical characteristics, lifestyle, goals and preferences. You would come away with a personalized color palette, client workbook and tangible image action plan.
How do I know if it’s time to update my look?
Assessing your own situation is never easy, which is why many people seek the advice of a professional. A few tell-tale signs: People guess your age as 5 years older—or younger—than you are. Many items in your closet are faded or frayed. Manufacturers have discontinued your favorite cosmetic shades. Your stylist starts cutting your hair without asking what you want. You don’t feel great when you look in the mirror.
What if I have a limited budget for clothing?
Not a problem. At StyleWorks, we’ll teach you how to shop smart. We’ll share tips on how to buy the best quality for less. You’ll learn how to mix and match to create more outfits with fewer pieces. And, because we determine your optimum colors and styles, we help you eliminate costly clothing mistakes.
How important is it to follow the trends?
While we advocate maintaining a look that’s current, we don’t recommend following trends for trends’ sake. We advise incorporating only those new styles, shapes, and colors that look best on you. And, we advise adding these fashion-infused pieces only after you have the basics. Tip: don’t spend a lot on a trend. Remember: what’s in today can be so yesterday by tomorrow.
